Our loot policy is rather simple and easy to understand. When a boss is killed a member will announce the items one by one on ventrilo, and any member that wants the item must simply say "up" to be in the running for the item. After this a simple /roll is done to decide on who gets the item. However we do expect members to have common sense and if you had several items in a single night, you are not expected to continue rolling on more items, remember that we are working as a team, not an individual. The members who are rolling gear is also assessed in special circumstances, such as if a member has a particuluary worse off item, such as a blue or in some cases a TBC item.
Eccentrics is a guild with members ranging across a broad spectrum of play times. We have members who play once a week and members who play for eight or nine hours a day. Balancing this is a respectable task, but not impossible. As has been previously said, Eccentrics is not a guild that is here for the loot. We’re here for fun times together in instances, on vent and in adventuring about the lands of Azeroth (and more recently Northerend.)
This loot policy is the fairest policy that we could use to allow for casual characters to have a chance at loot as well as rewarding those who are able to spend more time raiding. It is of the utmost importance that everyone understand that loot is not something that a character is entitled to just by entering an instance. That said, it’s also important that everyone who does their part in a raid on a particular night be given the opportunity to receive some form of reward for that time and effort. With these things in mind, I believe we have an exceptionally fair policy that is considerate of all the Eccentrics family.
Getting gear for a character is a time consuming process. For the casual characters, this may be a very long process since they cannot attend every raid we schedule. However, allowing those who recieve the biggest upgrade to do a simple roll off is the easiest and most effective way to keep the guild going at a level pace. We must all keep in mind that we’re in this together - we are a team and a family of friends and acquaintances who are here to have fun, not to bicker over loot and drops.
It is fair that those who attend raids more frequently be given the opportunity to get their gear, as they have been putting in time to get that gear. It is also important that those coming for the first time or on a casual basis be given the opportunity to get their gear. For the moderate to hardcore raiders, keep in mind that casual members may win loot over you from time to time with this system, but that we are all in the same guild and are always looking to push forwards as a team rather than an individual.
I appreciate all of your understanding as we implement the fairest loot system possible for the Eccentrics guild.
